Naked Time / The Enemy Within

The Naked Time
This seems to me like a first real Star Trek we all know. We have everyone in their positions, Spock was much more reserved than before. I know this episode is worked into Next Generation. (Which I'm looking forward to seeing). A hint of homoeroticism with Sulu wanting the buddy to come to the gym with him. Any way it was a good episode and felt like everyone was right at home.

The Enemy Within
Well only a few things to say about this episode. 1. Send a shuttle craft down to get the stranded crew 2. Kirk gets rapey 3. Spock needs to have a sexual harrassment talk with HR. Now I wonder if the Enterprise has a HR department. They sure need it in this episode.

The Cage / Where No Man Has Gone Before

The Cage
The very first episode in Star Trek history. It is the unaired pilot that wasn't shown until October 1988. The writing of the episode seems to be all over the place. All of the characters change except for Spock, but his mood changes in the actual pilot shown. It just seems odd when you look at him and he smiles, plus he yells about all of his lines. Love the props in this episode...looking very sci-fi.

Where No Man Has Gone Before
No discussion on how Kirk gets command of the Enterprise from Pike (I guess we have the 09 movie for that) But Kirk is Captain of the Enterprise, Spock is more alien, Scotty is there, Sulu is in the blue science uniform...no Bones. The contacts worn in the actor's eyes must have been horrible. It's amazing how special effects have changed over the years.  I am happy that I made my wife laugh when Kirk is giving a ship wide broadcast and Spock again yells his lines in the middle of it. "Really...Spock" This episode has the record of crew deaths of any Trek episode at 12.

Elizabeth and Joe Boldly Go

But first a little background. I met my husband in front of a comic book shop. We had gathered for a Star Wars fan club meeting and to skip to the end..we have been happily married for almost four years. The early stages of our relationship we bonded over our mutual interests. We are both huge movie buffs, sci-fi fans, and readers of comic books.

This being said we are no strangers to the trek. I consider myself a fan of The Next Generation but not so much to lay down the cash for autographs of the many Sci-Fi Cons we attend each year. I have seen most of the original series but not Deep Space Nine, Voyager, or Enterprise.

I am not sure where the idea came from but I know it started after the release of J.J. Abrams' Star Trek at the beginning of the summer. At some point we got into our heads that we would NetFlix it all...everything and watch it in order of broadcast. And it was my brain child that we chronicle the undertaking.

So in the comimg weeks it will begin.
